help figuring out how to live in BA for a year?

hello

my partner and i are interested in coming to buenos aires and staying for a year. we'd like to spend time learning spanish, learning about the culture, and doing a little traveling. so far, it would seem that we are only permitted to stay for less than 3 months. does anybody have suggestions on ways to be able to stay longer? i haven't posted on any forum before so if i don't reply to your response, it may be because i don't know how to get it! i'm going to try to learn now! any input or suggestions are welcomed. if there's no way it will be possible to spend a year in argentina, other suggestions are welcomed too.

Good evening!
Neither Argentine nor an expert, but on one of my previous business trips
to BaAs my Australian host - living, working in BaAs long-term- needed to
re-new her visa.
After 90 days she took a weekend trip to Uraguay -across the river, cheap-
and returned with a new visa good for another 90 days.
I will be interested to see if this is still the current policy.

Can anyone shed light here? Is it possible to ferry across and compound Tourist Visa's ontop of each other like that? Any other ways around?
