bs-as-subwayGwen Kirby is a creative writer who pays for her life in Buenos Aires by teaching English, translating, and whenever possible, writing! She has contributed a wealth of information on Argentina’s Travel Guide, including the stellar nightlife pages.

Born in San Diego, California, Gwen went to college at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Yes, she knows that it snows there; snow is only one of the many reasons why Minnesota is a superior place to live. Other reasons include being called “hun” by people on the street, playing broomball, and reveling in seasons that actually change every once in a while.

After graduating in June 2007 with a major in English and a minor in Latin American Studies, she traveled to Europe with her sister for six weeks and then moved to Buenos Aires. Currently living amidst the chaos of Barrio Once, Gwen loves to engage in feisty discussion, eat El Cachafaz alfajores, read books in English (even when she should be reading in Spanish), and write stories that may or may not be about Buenos Aires. She also enjoys shamelessly promoting her blog, www.farfromgruntled.blogspot.com, and interning for the ex-pat magazine, BA Insider.

In summary, Gwen loves to travel and loves to write. She hopes that writing will help fund her life of exploration far into the future.
