It’s well known that the good exchange rate is one of the big reasons behind the current tourism boom in Argentina. Because of this, many niche tourist industries have flourished. Shopping happens to be one of the biggest. Stores in Buenos Aires carry many of the same popular brands of clothing found in the US and Europe, but at a third of the price. Fashion aficionados and high-end clothing shoppers are finding that making the long trip to the Argentine capital is worth the hassle because of the money saved, and that the selection and quality of purchases rival that of any other cosmopolitan-minded city. Medical and dental tourism are also popular niche markets, and many tour companies are capitalizing on all of these new trends.
