Delta Airlines is planning to add five new nonstop flights a week connecting New York City to Buenos Aires as soon as they get the approval of the U.S. Department of Transportation. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the flights would begin in December 2008 and would complement the flights from Atlanta to Buenos Aires that the airline already runs regularly. After April 2008, flights would drop to four weekly to reflect the slight off-season, though the airline is hoping that they will be able to increase flights if demand increases even more. As it is, there is demand for flights from New York to Buenos Aires that is going unmet. This announcement is part of Delta’s plan to develop their use of JFK in New York as a hub for international flights.
