On Wednesday, officials from Argentina and Venezuela agreed on a plan to build a railroad between the two nations’ capitals, Buenos Aires and Caracas. According to China View, Argentine Ambassador to Venezuela Alicia Castro and Venezuelan Infrastructure Minister Isidro Rondon met at the La Rinconada train station to enact the ceremony to make their plans official. The idea of a train connecting the South American continent seems like a dream, what Castro calls a “realizable utopia.†Such a train would help foster economic exchanges between the south and north of the continent and is part of a larger plan by Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela to integrate the nations. In addition to a train network, they also hope to create a regional airline.
