A variety of famous actors and directors have participated every year for the last nine years in the free celebration of theater, called Teatrísimo. Teatrísmo is the brain child of newspaper man Luis Mazas who proposed the event in 1999, suggesting that it benefit the Casa del Teatro. Casa del Teatro is a museum on Santa Fe 1243 that preserves much of the history of Argentine theater in its old salons and performance spaces. According to La Nacion, this year’s performances unite famous Argentine actors such as Julieta Díaz, Gustavo Garzón, Juan Palomino, and Viviana Saccone and famous directors, including Jorge Arzumendi, Agustín Alezzo, and Santiago Doria. They will all perform at the Casa del Teatro, beginning today with a ceremony honoring the president of the Casa del Teatro, former actress Mirta Legrand, with the Florencio Sánchez Prize.
