Argentina has been chosen to host the third World Conference of News Agencies in October of 2010. Clearly an event that requires much time and forethought to plan, the conference According to the Economic Times, the Argentine news agency Telam is organizing the event. Telam’s president, Martin Granovsky, says that he wants to stress “commitment to freedom of speech, diversity and the role of news agencies around the world,” in the conference. A rather recent tradition, the first World Congress was held in Moscow in 2004 and the second in the southern Spanish town of Estepona in 2007. Argentina is honored to host the third and will welcome news agencies from around the world during the year of the country’s bicentennial.
