In Argentina, San Cayetano (Saint Cajetan) is the Patron Saint of Work and Bread, and on August 7th, people from around the nation go to the Church of San Cayentano in Liniers, a part of the city of Buenos Aires. Yesterday, thousands of Argentines came to the church to renew their devotion and ask the saint for good luck in the next year with providing for their families and their futures. According to the ClarÃn, the line to enter the church was 20 blocks long by the time it opened at midnight yesterday. People had been waiting there in tents for several days, just to make sure they got inside. Similar ceremonies happened across Argentina; those who could not make it to the church in Buenos Aires practiced their own rituals to honor this saint and hope for a better future.
